Foundation approves $20K for grants

The District 59 Education Foundation Board of Directors approved an expenditure of up to $20,000 to fund their grant program, a 33% increase over last year. According to Janice Krinsky, Chair of the Foundation, “Two successful fundraisers in 2006 allowed us to significantly raise the amount we can give back to the schools. We are particularly proud of this accomplishment because the Foundation has only been in operation since January of 2004. It will bring our total contribution to the schools to $47,500 in less than three years.”

The Foundation is currently accepting grant applications. District 59 Staff, PTOs, and community members are eligible to apply for grants. The deadline for receipt of applications is midnight on October 20th.
